Airports on Australia’s east coast were engulfed by dust storms on Wednesday which grounded flights and delayed scheduled landings.

Sydney Airport suffered most with the storm blanketing the New South Wales capital more than any other region.

The storms delayed all domestic and international flights with no respite throughout the day.

Operations were also hampered at Brisbane Airport in Queensland as the storm moved north but the situation improved with commencement of operations after a short period of closure.
