Portland International Airport (PDX) in the US saw an almost 10% decline in passenger traffic in August 2009 compared to the previous month, and a 13% decrease from August last year.
Passenger traffic fell to 1.3 million in August 2009, in comparison with 1.4 million in August 2008, showing an overall decline by 9.4%.
PDX’s yearly statistics show a 12.5% decline with the 8.7 million passengers from the same period in 2008, portland.bizjournals.com reports.
International traffic also fell by 20% in August and 28.6% in the year to date.
The overall passenger traffic and air freight figures put PDX behind the national average in a year.
The airport’s total freight tonnage was reportedly down by 24.1% year to date.
