Ogle Airport in Guyana, South America, has been officially certified as an international airport.

A contract has also been signed for the completion of Phase II of a 4,000ft by 100ft International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) class II C runway.

The $6m phase II project includes improvement of taxiways, aprons, perimeter fences, runway lights and the upgrade of terminals.

Ogle Airport is currently classified as ICAO class I A. The new runway will be completed by 2011.
