Newcastle Airport in the UK is conducting trials of new X-ray scanners from Kromek that are capable of detecting explosives in liquids.

The scanners will investigate the barcode of bottles and then an X-ray beam will pass through the liquid inside to.

The detection process works even if the bottle is completely sealed and can detect all liquids irrespective of the look, similarity and weight.

The trials, which are supported by UK Department for Transport, will help in lowering restrictions on liquids carried in hand luggage.
