South Korea’s Incheon International Airport Corporation has introduced an eco-friendly logistics brand to promote the use of lightweight unit load device (ULD) carriers.

The green logistics logo ‘Incheon Airport, Green Cargo Hub’ will be printed on the lightweight unit load device carriers. It aims to help raise publicity for the airport, cargonewsasia.com reports.

The project is part of the airport operator’s air logistics specialisation and branding project and it will provide 50% of the purchasing cost of the lightweight ULD carriers with participating airlines to support their green growth.

The lightweight ULDs are made from fabric and weigh 69kg, about 40% less than standard steel containers, reducing emissions of carbon dioxide and fuel consumption for aircraft.
