Regina International Airport in Canada is planning to complete a major overhaul of a number of its facilities by the end of the year.

The overhaul includes expanding parking facilities and adding a full-service licenced lounge in the departure zone.

The number of parking spaces in the airport, which includes staff and rental car parking, will be increased from 950 to 1,750.

An automated paid parking system will also be installed in place of parking meters.

Regina Airport Authority’s president Jim Hunter said the extension is necessary as the airport was experiencing a shortage of parking spaces due to a surge in flights and passengers.
