The reconstruction and extension of Francistown Airport in Botswana is now due to be completed in July 2010.

The project, which began in August 2008 and has been divided into three phases, has completed 80% of its final BWP160m ($23.9m) phase.

Airport officials said that despite the project running behind schedule by seven weeks, they are positive the facility will be constructed before the 2010 FIFA World Cup starts in South Africa.

The delay was reportedly a result of stormy weather during the excavation period.
