Boston Airport to Launch New $1.3m Radar System

Logan International Airport in Boston, US, has announced plans to launch a $1.3m radar system that will help detect big vessels in the Boston Harbour.

The radar system will also be able to measure a vessel’s height and will use an infrared camera to spot ships in Boston’s primary channel when weather conditions do not permit clear view from the air traffic control tower.

The move is designed to enhance security and safety at the airport, which accommodated over 26 million travellers in 2008.
