The US information technology contractor Lockheed Martin Global Services is to manage facilities Roberts International Airport in Liberia.
The move takes place after the contractor signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Liberian government.
The MoU states that the US government will act as a purchaser while the company will be a service provider.
It represents a key development in relations between Liberia and the US.
During a recent visit to Liberia US secretary of state Hilary Clinton presented several machines to aid in the renovation of the airport according to global norms.
