India’s ADT Security has awarded a contract to CEM Systems to provide access control for Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3 in Delhi, India.
ADT Security will provide an integrated access control and IP video solution.
The airport will use two versions of CEM’s S610 IP card readers that will provide an internal database for offline card certification and an on-board 10/100Mbps Ethernet connection.
The airport has also installed the S610f fingerprint solution for higher security areas, which includes a fingerprint reader and an advanced IP card reader.
This will help the airport cope with security-related problems and operational complexity in a large-scale setting.
The system will support operational applications such as vehicle management, passenger movement, check-in desks and airbridge monitoring systems that are vital to the airport’s ground operations.
The new terminal, which features 500,000m² of space and 160 check-in counters, is part of a proposed development project that would increase the airport’s annual capacity from 20 million travellers to 60 million.
The new terminal is scheduled for completion in March 2010 and will be opened before the 2010 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in New Delhi.
