The €4bn ($5.7bn) plan to expand Frankfurt’s main international airport in Germany has been approved by administrative court of the state of Hesse, the German airport operator Fraport AG recently announced.

Under the plan, a new runway will be built that will allow 120 aircraft movements an hour. It is expected to open in the winter of 2011.

In addition, a new terminal will be constructed at Deutsche Lufthansa AG’s main hub in the airport which will be capable of handling 75 new aircraft positions and 25 million passengers a year.
