McAllen Miller International Airport in the US is to receive more than $6.2m for renovating infrastructure.

The funding awarded by the US Department of Transportation will be used to expand the terminal, extend the runway and repair damage caused by Hurricane Dolly.

The bigger terminal will allow more gates to be built, attracting more airlines to run their services to the Valley, according to airport officials.

The extension of the runway will help the airport accommodate larger aircraft.
