London’s Heathrow Airport will soon be the subject of a new book from bestselling author Alain de Botton.

In ‘A Week At The Airport – A Heathrow Diary’, de Botton will be given access to all areas of the airport to capture its inner workings.

Commissioned by Heathrow, the airport’s staff and passengers will also be the subject of the book.

Author de Botton said: “I have always found airports mesmerising. If you wanted to take a Martian to a single place that best captures everything that is distinctive and particular to modern civilisation, in its highs and lows, you would undoubtedly take them to the airport.”
