Pittsburgh International Airport in the US is to receive LED lighting at its car parks as part of a new grant provided by the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority.

High-efficiency LED fixtures will replace 1,471 old high-intensity discharge lights in the airport’s three-level parking garage and extended car parks.

The new LED lights will offer $158,754 in yearly power savings and consume 83% less power – or 2,118,438kWh – during the course of the $1.6m project.

Executive director and chief executive officer of the Allegheny County Airport Authority Bradley Penrod said the authority is dedicated to promoting green power and energy conservation at the airport.
