Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in Canada is to unveil its new US departures zone as the final part of the airport’s renovation.

The airport operator Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) said the Montreal airport was now equipped to handle a possible rise in passenger traffic.

The new facility increases departure capacity for US-bound flights and simplifies the path of passengers through the terminal.

The departures hall features over 18,000m² of floor area, 48 self-service check-in kiosks and 58 conventional check-in counter stations, which accounts for 50% of the additional capacity.

The pre-boarding security checkpoint, in conformity with new US Customs and Border Protection standards, is now situated before the pre-customs clearance zone.

Every year, nearly 1.5 million departing passengers are likely to use the new zone.

A new hotel will be opening shortly above the new departures zone.
