Bellingham International Airport in the US has opened a new $2.7m airport rescue firefighting Station to improve its emergency response capabilities.

The 7,550m² station includes a communications room, a training room and three equipment bays.

The facility will follow safety regulations for the airport’s present and future size classification.

The Federal Aviation Administration has financed over 95% of the project’s design and construction costs.

Tiger Construction is handling the building work, which is expected to finish next week following almost a year of work.
