Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) in Kingston, Jamaica, will undergo a J$101m renovation as part of an airport upgrade proposal.
Tankweld construction firm has secured the J$101m contract for the renovation of the arrival lounge.
The firm will build a shopping arcade, an arrivals forecourt and a tour bus park at the facility.
A spokesperson for the Airport Authority of Jamaica (AAJ) said the project also involves building new concessions and three shops alongside the arrivals concourse.
The first phase of the project will focus on completing the renovated departure terminals, which also requires upgrading data and communication cables.
The initial phase of the three-phase project was originally projected to cost J$63m, but was later increased to J$120m due to the rise in construction costs and schedule changes.
An extra J$41m is likely to be used for the remaining two phases of the project.
