John F Kennedy International Airport in the US has implemented a runway incursion detection and alerting system model X (ASDE-X) from the air defence solutions provider Sensis.
The Sensis airport surface detection equipment will provide extra surveillance coverage of the ramp and gate areas aimed at increasing situational awareness on the airport’s runways.
An automatic dependent surveillance – broadcast (ADS-B) will monitor surface movements and provide real-time position and detection data of all vehicles and aircraft on the airport surface.
Multiple sensors enable the system to offer a clear representation of ground operations and increase airport safety in extreme weather.
