The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted $1,471,526 in additional funds for the ongoing rehabilitation of Runway 09L/27R at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
The ongoing project involves renovation of the 900ft runway which includes narrowing the area by 150ft.
The runway is one of two crosswind runways at the airport that are primarily deployed during windy conditions.
With the additional funds, FAA’s overall investment on the airport project stands at $32m.
Nearly 50% of the first investment was granted under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
It is expected that nearly 225 pavers, excavators, haulers, electricians and other construction jobs will be required this summer for the project.
