A new PHP6bn international airport is being planned for Carabao Island in the Philippines which is hoped to help attract tourism to various parts of the country.
The new airport is expected to also benefit Boracay Island in the central Philippines, which along with Carabao Island is commonly referred to as part of the Philippine Tourism Triangle.

The new airport is expected to handle Boeing 747s and other big capacity, intercontinental planes.
The Aklan-Romblon Properties Corporation is handling the Carabao Island International Airport project, which is now in the design phase.
According to the company, nearly 120ha of land have been purchased for the airport site, which has been fenced in and set aside for preparation.
The airport is estimated to open within the next two years.
