Ukraine’s Kharkiv International Airport has employed aviation IT specialist SITA to manage its airport systems integration (ASI) in a deal worth $9m.

SITA will offer fully integrated IT systems for the airport’s new $205m terminal by mid-2010.

All applications will operate on a shared network infrastructure covering security, access control, baggage management, boarding and check-in.

SITA’s airport management solution (AMS) consists of an integrated operations software suite for airports that incorporates planning, monitoring, real-time and sporadic operations, aeronautical billing, flight displays and reporting.

New systems AM director general Vladimir Vasilchenko said that the project would help double the airport’s capacity, modernise its information systems and ensure a smooth process flow for all passengers especially during the UEFA football tournament Euro 2012.

The new terminal will open in April 2010 with capacity to accommodate up to 1,000 football fans an hour at peak departure and arrival times during the tournament.
