Three airport upgrade projects in the Mindanao region of the Philippines will be completed by December 2009 to improve connectivity in the area.
The airport upgrade projects include the Pagadian Airport development, worth Php379.46m ($7.88m) and the Php478.05m ($9.93m) Dipolog airport upgrade.
Work on the Pagadian airport project includes upgrading and rehabilitation of airport facilities such as the runway, taxiway and airport building.
This work and the construction of administration and powerhouse buildings, a perimeter fence and air navigational facilities at the Pagadian airport are expected to be complete by December 2009.
The Dipolog Airport project involves an asphalt overlay of the runway as well as renovation of the terminal, fire station buildings and its air navigational facilities.
The Department of Transportation and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines are implementing the airport development projects under the Mindanao Super Region development plan.
