Birmingham International Airport in the UK has released plans to merge two terminals to cater for up to 20 million passengers in the next ten years.

The initiative followed the recent approval of a £130m 400m runway extension, which will open up access to flights from markets such as the American West Coast and China.

Birmingham Airport boss Paul Kehoe said that that Birmingham is the last great aviation opportunity in the UK.

“The challenge for us is to take two terminals that we have and make them one. The extra 400m of runway plus the one terminal concept, I believe, will give us an airport that is truly world class,” Kehoe said.
