Thales has been awarded a contract by Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (DFS) to install a wide area multilateration surveillance system to help ease air traffic at Frankfurt’s airspace.
The new surveillance system, fully compliant to DFS requirements and international safety standards, will control air traffic at the German airspace, an area covering 125 by 80 nautical miles.
DFS will be able to better receive and process automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) messages from the same ground stations using the system.
Thales’ multilateration system is part of surveillance system used to configure multiple data links, multiple output power ratings for transmission and omni directional or sectored antennas.
