Oman’s Muscat International Airport has unveiled the 15m-rial extension of its passenger departures building, constructed by Oman Airports Management Company.
The new terminal extension comprised two floors with a facility of new baggage handling and screening system at ground floor, Muscat International Airport CEO George Bellew said.
The extension of 17,000m² on the ground and first floor will allow the airport to accommodate 3,000 passengers at a time.
Passenger traffic is expected to increase at Muscat International Airport with increased flight services of Oman Air, Air India Express, Gulf Air, KLM, Lufthansa and Qatar Airways.
The number of passengers entering and leaving the city through Muscat International Airport has witnessed an increase of 6% as compared to the corresponding quarter last year.
An increase of 4% has been noticed in the number of arriving passengers whereas an increase of 9% has been witnessed in the number of departing passengers during the first quarter of 2009 as compare to the same period last year.
