Despite the global economic downturn, passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport was more than 9.5 million in the first quarter of 2009, registering an increase of 2% as compared to 2008.

The increase comes as worldwide passenger traffic witnesses a double-digit fall.

Dubai Airport has become the only airport to show positive growth among the world’s top ten busiest airports in terms of international passenger volumes.

Cargo traffic has shown a marginal increase during the first quarter of 2009.
