Mailing equipment supplier Totalpost has deployed a new XIS-100DV x-ray threat detection equipment at East Midlands Airport in the UK to support the freight screening operations of East Midlands Airport Handling.
The new security screening equipment uses Dual View technology that incorporates two x-ray generators for two screening perceptions, which allow operators to control each independently.
The dual view X-Ray Inspection System, with a tunnel size of 101.6 x 101.6 cm (40in x 40in) will allow the screening of non-palletised large goods, including parcels and freight.
Totalpost managing director David Hymers said: "The installation at East Midlands Airport went very well and we are pleased to have assisted East Midlands Airport Handling in their growth."
Totalpost is the UK and Ireland supplier of x-ray threat detection technology from the US-based firm Astrophysics.
East Midlands Airport, with a single 2,893m x 60m runway, is expected to handle 9.2 million passengers per year by 2016 and 12 million to 14 million per year by 2030.
The airport has 140,000ft² cargo village in addition to four other cargo terminals, spanning an area of about 225,000ft².
