The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), the operator of Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada, has selected Activu's intelligent visualisation and collaboration solution for its integrated operations control centre (IOCC) to boost safety and security at the airport.
The new solution at IOCC is expected to provide consistent, coordinated, and efficient response system for both internal and external customers.
IOCC has consolidated seven work groups to improve internal communication and boost safety, security and emergency response for the facility, passengers, personnel and cargo.
The facility comprises the operations control centre (OCC), the security operations control centre (SOCC), resource management unit (RMU), call centre paging centre, IT&T service desk, baggage operation and maintenance dispatch centre.
The OCC manages airport operations, maintenance and emergencies round-the-clock, while the SOCC examines and deals with the airport's security and several security access control systems 24/7.
The solution will be incorporated with all of the airport's network-based cameras, security devices and access controls, which would allow the IOCC operators to consolidate information from multiple information sources across the airport.
The gathered information would be visually integrated on the large display wall, LCD panels, computer displays, tablets and smartphones for approved viewing within and outside the airport.
Additionally, the solution allows creating customised zoom-in displays to meet sequential, emergency or event-driven modifications and offer dynamic collaboration environment all through the GTAA for rapid, effective decision-making and response.
The Activu solution would also allow rapidly detecting and responding to threats, illegal access attempts and security violations and wholly assure passenger, facility safety and security.
The airport has the capacity to serve over 34.9 million passengers per year and handles over 400,000 flights.
