The civil aviation department of the Republic of Srpska (RSCAD) has completed the upgrade of COMSOFT's AIDA-NG, a move which allowed the agency to provide advanced message handling.
RSCAD, which launched its first COMSOFT CIDIN/AFTN system in 2002, installed the central system at Banja Luka Airport.
The AMHS upgrade included two phases and was aimed at providing the latest features of message handling.
Following the upgrade, the RSCAD was able to perform successful interoperability tests with adjacent centres in Belgrade / Serbia and Sarajevo / Bosnia and Herzegovina, where COMSOFT systems were already present.
RSCAD director Damir Copic said: "Continuous improvement is essential now and for the future, and with Comsoft's AIDA-NG and CADAS solutions we are now fully in line with the latest ICAO standards and can transmit advanced messages, essential for the expected growth in air travel."
The latest system additions include AMHS/X.400 Message Transfer Agent (MTA) (P1 connections), AFTN/AMHS Gateway (MTCU), ATS Message Server (connection of P3 User Agents) and CADAS-ATS Client Terminal System.
AIDA-NG provides high connectivity and links to the ATN directory services based on X.500 data model.
Due to its low maintenance costs and increased reliability, AIDA-NG will also play a vital role in future air traffic management, while complementary CADAS-ATS also allows fully integrated AFTN and AMHS message processing.
Comsoft provides surveillance and communication solutions such as ADS-B and Multilateration sensors.
