Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL) has been awarded a contract by RAK International Airport in the UAE to develop air traffic services (ATS) to enhance the operations of commercial and private aircraft flying through the airport.
Under the contract, GAL will provide RAK International Airport with complete air traffic control (ATC) services, ranging from manning to the analysis of standards, procedures and facilities at the airport.
According to the company, the comprehensive service will ensure flight safety by meeting delegated authorities and operational requirements.
RAK International Airport CEO Andrew Gower said the initiative is part of the airport's effort to operate in accordance with the highest international standards and service, anchored on safety, security and customer satisfaction.
"A fundamental part of our ongoing development plan included a full review of our air traffic services provision," Gower said.
As part of the contract, both parties have agreed to collaborate on enhancing efficiency and standardisation to improve all air traffic services at the airport.
RAK International airport is planning to undertake further expansion in the future; it started an expansion programme in 2007, which included revamping the passenger terminal and building a new cargo terminal with modern facilities.
