Fraport records September passenger traffic rise

Fraport, operator of Frankfurt International Airport, Germany, recorded a 4% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic to 5.3 million for September 2011.

Aircraft movements for September 2011 rose by 2.1% to 42,496.

During the first nine months of 2011, Frankfurt airport saw a 6.7% rise in passenger numbers to 42.8 million compared with the same period last year, and aircraft movements grew by 4.9% to stand at 366,180.

Fraport's accumulated maximum takeoff weights hit a new September monthly high with a rise of 1.5% year-on-year to 2.5 million tonnes.

In the first three quarters of 2011, Frankfurt airport handled 1.6 million tonnes of airfreight, a fall of 0.7%, while in September it handled 176,222t, a drop of 5.3% year-on-year.
