Frankfurt Airport passenger traffic declined in November 2012

Fraport's Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Germany, reported a 2.7% decline in passenger traffic during November 2012, to 4.2 million, mainly due to reduced flight destinations and a lower frequency of flights.

Fraport's Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Germany, reported a 2.7% decline in passenger traffic during November 2012, to 4.2 million, mainly due to reduced flight destinations and a lower frequency of flights.

During the period, Frankfurt Airport's maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) dropped by 3.7% to 2.3 million tonnes, while aircraft movements declined 4.6% to 38,000 takeoffs and landings.

Cargo handling volume at the airport rose 2.1% in November to 190,000t, including a 2.3% rise in air-freight to 182,211t, despite a 2.3% decline in airmail to 7,541t compared to the same month in 2011.

The combined passenger traffic at Fraport's five majority-owned airports, namely Frankfurt Airport, Antalya, Burgas, Varna and Lima, reported a one percent rise to 6.4 million passengers in November 2012, compared to the same period in 2011.

Fraport's Lima Airport in Peru registered the highest passenger traffic of about 1.1 million passengers, while Antalya served about one million passengers in November 2012.

During the January to November 2012 period, Fraport reported a 3.2% rise in passenger traffic to 93.69 million, while Frankfurt Airport reported a 2.6% rise to 53.5 million passengers, compared to the corresponding 11-month period in 2011.

Fraport reported a 6.3% decline in cargo traffic during the initial 11 months of 2012 to 2.16 million tonnes, while aircraft movements rose by 0.7% to 766,600 compared to the corresponding period in 2011.

Frankfurt Airport reported 0.2% decline in aircraft movements during the 11-month period to 447,817, while its air-freight and airmail declined by 7.3% and 1.8% respectively to 1.85 million tonnes and 71,761t over 2011.
