Ferrovial, NATS and Saerco to manage Spanish airport control towers

Spanish airport operator Aena Aeropuertos has awarded a contract to Ferrovial, NATS Holdings and Saerco to manage the control towers of 13 airports in order to cut its costs by 50%.

Spanish airport operator Aena Aeropuertos has awarded a contract to Ferrovial, NATS Holdings and Saerco to manage the control towers of 13 airports in order to cut its costs by 50%.

Privatisation of the control-tower management will help Aena to reduce its annual costs to €18.1m from €33.9m.

Under the five-year contract, which has an option to be extended by one year, Ferrovial and NATS will run ten towers and Saerco will manage three.

Ferrovial and NATS will manage the control towers of Alicante, Valencia, Ibiza, Sabadell, Seville, Jerez, Vigo, La Coruna, Melilla and Cuatro Vientos, while Saerco will manage towers in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and La Palma.
