Domodedovo Airport reveals $3.9bn investment plan

Domodedovo Group, operator of Moscow Domodedovo International Airport in Russia, is to invest $3.9bn over the next ten years in expanding the airport's capacity.

Domodedovo Group, operator of Moscow Domodedovo International Airport in Russia, is to invest $3.9bn over the next ten years in expanding the airport's capacity.

The expansion includes building a third runway, renovating a landing apron, expanding the terminal's facilities, constructing hotels and upgrading rail and road links.

Work on the third runway, which will cost RUB30bn ($934.29m), will begin during the first quarter of 2012 and will be complete by the end of 2016.

The airport will also spend $1.4bn on developing its terminal complexes to raise passenger capacity to 15,200 per hour, according to themoscowtimes.com.
