Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport in the US has completed its customer-facing upgrade and modernisation works at its Terminal E.

In a bid to enhance passenger experience, DFW refurbished the second terminal under the airport’s $2.7bn Terminal Renewal and Improvement Programme (TRIP) designed to upgrade three of its original terminal buildings.

As part of the project, the airport has upgraded a total of 36 passenger gates at the terminal and installed additional charging stations in gate and seating areas.

In addition, the refurbishment included the installation of energy-efficient lighting, durable terrazzo floors in the concourses, and four upgraded ticketing areas with security checkpoints and 16 screening lanes.

DFW Airport Infrastructure and Development executive vice-president Khaled Naja said: “More than 120 subcontractors and vendors contributed millions of hours to the Terminal E improvements, which created hundreds of jobs and contributed hundreds of millions of dollars to the North Texas economy.

“TRIP's impact reaches beyond DFW Airport and has positively affected local communities and small businesses throughout the Dallas Fort Worth area.”

The parking garage at Terminal E has also been modernised, increasing its capacity from 4,036 spaces to 5,941 spaces.

The new section of the Terminal E garage has been equipped with an electronic parking guidance system, as well as eight electric vehicle charging stations.

The renovation of Terminal A, as part of the airport’s TRIP upgrades, was completed in January, while work at Terminal B is slated to be completed over the next six months.
