BIA signs $18.3m contract with Hill International

The Bahrain Ministry of Transportation has signed a BHD6.9m ($18.3m) agreement with Hill International to provide project management consultancy services at Bahrain International Airport (BIA) in Manama, under the 'Airport Modernization Program.'

The four-year deal is an extension of Hill International's existing contract with Bahrain Airport Company.

The extension contract is in line with the plan to improve the quality of land, sea, and air transport in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

"We strive to manage Bahrain's gateway as a leading airport."

The Airport Modernization Program includes the design and construction of the expansion and refurbishment of the existing terminal for planned growth to 13.5 million passengers per year.

Hill's Project Management Group (International) president Raouf Ghali said: "The growth of passenger traffic at BIA necessitates this expansion programme."

Hill International Middle East senior vice-president and managing director Mohammed Al-Rais said: "We are delighted to be appointed for this vital project. We are fully committed to the quality and time-scale of this development, while adhering to the best international standards."

Bahrain Airport Company CEO Mohamed Yousif Al- Binfalah said: "We strive to manage Bahrain's gateway as a leading airport while serving the future needs of the aviation industry."
