ADP reports 1.3% rise in August 2012 passenger traffic

Passenger traffic at Aéroports de Paris (ADP)-operated airports in France increased 1.3% to 8.5 million during August 2012, when compared to August 2011.

Passenger traffic at Aéroports de Paris (ADP)-operated airports in France increased 1.3% to 8.5 million during August 2012, when compared to August 2011.

ADP's Paris-Charles de Gaulle reported a 0.3% rise in passenger traffic to 5.9 million, while traffic at Paris-Orly increased 3.7 % to 2.67 million during August.

The French airport operator reported a 2.8% rise in international traffic, excluding Europe, following an 11% decline during the same month in 2011.

During the month, traffic on African routes rose 8.2% due to Ramadan and Asia-Pacific traffic increased 5.5%, as well as a 2.4% rise along the Middle East route.

ADP's French Overseas Territories registered a slight rise of 0.4%, while traffic through Latin America and North America declined 0.6% and 2.1% respectively during August 2012.

According to ADP, European traffic, excluding France rose 1%, while its domestic traffic declined 1.7% during August when compared to the corresponding month in 2011.

The number of connecting passengers during the month declined 2.5%, while the connecting rate was 23.0%.

The total aircraft movements of ADP declined 2% to 62,444, with 4% decline at Paris CDG and 3% rise at Paris-Orly airport, during August over the corresponding month the previous year.

"According to ADP, European traffic, excluding France rose 1%, while its domestic traffic declined 1.7% during August when compared to the corresponding month in 2011."

During the January to August period, ADP reported a 1.5% rise in passenger traffic to 60.1 million, with a 4% rise in the number of connecting passengers as well as a 23.5% rise in connecting rate of 23.5%.

Aircraft movements at ADP operated airports declined 1.9% to 483,492 during the initial eight months of 2012, when compared to the same period in 2011.

Passenger traffic at TAV Airports, which is 38% owned by ADP reported 33.8% rise in passenger traffic to 31.42 million during the initial eight months of 2012, over the same period in 2011.
