Bourgas International Airport in Bulgaria has begun a modernisation and expansion project to increase its passenger handling capacity.

Fraport twin star airport management has launched the construction of a new administrative building, a new cargo storage facility and a new building to accommodate fire fighting units.

Under the project, a new passenger terminal will be constructed in 2011 to handle three million passengers annually.

The project is estimated to cost BGN20m ($15m), according to sofiaecho.com.
