India to Partially Close Airspace for CWG

The Indian Government will temporarily close airspace in New Delhi from 5.00pm to 10.00pm IST on the opening and closing days of the Commonwealth Games 2010. No flights will be permitted to take off or land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport during these times on 3 October and 1

The Indian Government will temporarily close airspace in New Delhi from 5.00pm to 10.00pm IST on the opening and closing days of the Commonwealth Games 2010.

No flights will be permitted to take off or land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport during these times on 3 October and 14 October and other airports within 300km zone, except routine commercial flights.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) and state-owned aircraft for the governor or chief minister would require necessary clearance from the ministry of home affairs to fly within the region.

Flights of micro light aircraft and hang gliders from flying clubs and other airports will be restricted.

A regional airport in Delhi, Safdarjung Airport will also remain closed, except for the IAF helicopters which may be deployed on emergency duty or VVIP duty.
