Dubai International Airport in the UAE has recorded a 6.8% rise in August passenger traffic to 3.98 million compared with 3.73 million in the same period of 2009.
The airport's year-to-date passenger traffic has increased 14.7% to 30.8 million passengers, compared with 26.9 million during the same period last year.
During August, 84,953 passengers were recorded on routes to and from Western Europe, 65,210 passengers from Asia and 52,538 passengers from the Indian subcontinent.
Passenger traffic from Eastern Europe increased 217%, Asia 25%, Australasia 14% and Russia 14%, according to gulfnews.com.
Cargo traffic increased 21.5% to 198,543t in August, compared with 163,427t during the same month in 2009.
Year-to-date cargo volumes increased 25% to 1.49 million tons compared with 1.19 million tons during the same period in 2009.
