British Airways customer service staff at Heathrow Airport in the UK have voted to accept new working practices in an agreement signed with the Unite and GMB trade unions.

The agreement will cover 2,850 staff based at Terminals 3 and 5 and is intended to create more flexible and customer-focused working arrangements at the airport.

Under the deal, BA will cut 500 posts at Terminals 3 and 5 by March 2011.

Out of the 500 eliminated jobs, 300 will involve voluntary redundancy and workers opting for voluntary part-time contracts.

More flexible working arrangements for employees are also part of the agreement.
