The Transportation Security Administration has provided a grant to General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, US for the construction of a new in-line baggage handling system.

The $20.3m fund will be utilised to install a fully automated in-line baggage handling system as part of TSA's efforts to strengthen security at all US airports.

The baggage handling system will use advanced technology to quickly screen baggs for explosives, as well as streamlining the ticketing and boarding process.

The system will also provide on-screen resolution capabilities for security officers, which will help reduce the need for re-scans and physical bag searches.
