Aeronautica Civil de Colombia has awarded a contract to Selex Sistemi Integrati to upgrade the radar system in Cerro Maco, Bolivar.

Under the €5.2m ($6.6m) contract, Selex will upgrade the hardware and software of the ATCR 22M primary radar and the SIR-M secondary radar for nine months.

Selex will implement the solid state technology into the primary radar to avoid the spare parts obsolescence.

The secondary radar upgrade will allow the management to carry out exchange of more information and data with the airplanes to enhance air traffic surveillance and flights security.
