Birmingham International Airport in the UK is poised to become a gateway to London, with the proposed transport links and expansion works undertaken at the facility.
A proposed high-speed rail line will be in operation by 2026 and is expected to cut the journey time between the airport and London by 38 minutes.
The airport will also complete work on the 400m runway, which will allow larger jets to fly non-stop to destinations such as China and America's west coast, as well as starting flights to Australia.
The airport will double its existing capacity to 18 million passengers each year, while with further investment, the capacity will rise to 30 million.
The UK Government rejected proposals to expand Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport.
