Frankfurt Airport to Expand Cargo Facility

Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) in Germany has unveiled plans to develop an additional 27ha of airport area as part of an expansion initiative undertaken at CargoCity South. The CargoCity South expansion project aims to handle 3.2 million metric tons of freight by 2020.

Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) in Germany has unveiled plans to develop an additional 27ha of airport area as part of an expansion initiative undertaken at CargoCity South.

The CargoCity South expansion project aims to handle 3.2 million metric tons of freight by 2020.

The project will include the development of 30,000m² of hall space in the first phase.

The new CargoCity South expansion area will be large as 35 football fields and will accommodate logistics buildings with a total hall space of 100,000m².

The first phase of the new cargo area will be opened between 2013 and 2014.
