Balfour Beatty has been awarded a contract to start the second phase of a satellite building to support the new Terminal 2 (T2B) at Heathrow Airport in the UK.

Under the £460m ($722m) contract, Balfour will provide design, ground engineering, specialist mechanical and electrical expertise for the project.

The second phase of T2B will include a facility with ten new aircraft gates in the area east of Terminal 1.

It will also include an underground link from the satellite to the main building of the new Terminal 2 development and a large baggage facility in the basement.

Balfour will begin construction work in October this year.
