BAA Reports Slight Rise in UK Passenger Traffic

The BAA has reported a slight increase of 0.3% in July passenger traffic across its UK airports, amounting to 10.9 million. July was Heathrow International Airport's busiest ever month; the airport handled 6.7 million passengers, an increase of 3.5% compared with the same period in 2009

The BAA has reported a slight increase of 0.3% in July passenger traffic across its UK airports, amounting to 10.9 million.

July was Heathrow International Airport's busiest ever month; the airport handled 6.7 million passengers, an increase of 3.5% compared with the same period in 2009.

Traffic declined by 7.2% at Stansted Airport, 1.4% at Southampton Airport, 3.6% at Glasgow Airport, 4.1% at Aberdeen Airport and increased 0.6% at Edinburgh Airport.

In July long-haul traffic rose by 0.5%, while domestic traffic declined by 4.6% compared with 2009.

The number of air transport movements also declined by 0.4%, while cargo traffic remained strong with an increase of 17.9% in July 2010.
