Selex Sistemi Integrati has been awarded a contract to upgrade the air traffic control system at Kiev International Airport in Ukraine.
The project will be delivered for Ukrainian air traffic control company, UkSATSE, ahead of the 2012 European Football Championship to be held in the country.
Under the €10m ($13m) contract, Selex will upgrade and increase both the hardware and software performances of the Strela ATC centre, which performs en route and approach air traffic control.
It features 20 controller working positions and is equipped with high-resolution CDS2000 screens to display radar surveillance information.
The centre uses radar data elaboration, flight planning, data record and reproduction, alerts for potential medium- and short-term collision, and monitoring and control equipment for central data processing.
