Glasgow Prestwick Airport in Scotland has received a new voice communication system from Frequentis as part of its ongoing communications upgrade programme.

The airport will use the 3020X voice communication switch (VCS) for its existing air traffic control tower.

The VCS includes ten working positions and a remote position in the fire station, which will be connected back to the central switch via HDSL modems.

It will provide access to normal telephone and radio resources, and provide the operator with a clearance to land indicator, which will replace the old analogue system.

The switch is also intended to ensure that the airport's communication system complies with the latest CAP 670 requirements.
