Los Angeles International Airport in the US has deployed OSI Systems' Rapiscan Secure 1000 Single Pose body scanners as part of a security upgrade project.

The deployment is part of the US Transportation Security Administration's advanced imaging technology programme to mitigate potential security threats and make air travel safer.

The Rapiscan scanner will produce high resolution images that will enable the operator to identify hidden threats and contraband items without contact.

It will use ultra-low-dose X-ray technology to create images of solid and liquid explosives, narcotics, ceramic weapons and metal materials.
